INDICATIONS – INDICATIONS

Treatment of allergic rhinitis symptoms: sneezing, runny nose, itchy palate and throat, itchy red eyes and watery eyes.

DOSAGE – DOSAGE

Adults and children ≥ 12 years: The recommended dose is 60mg twice daily or 180mg once daily.
The starting dose for patients with renal impairment is a single dose of 60mg / 24 hours.
Elderly and patients with hepatic impairment do not need a dose reduction.
Fexofenadine should be taken 2 hours apart with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium gel.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to any components of the drug

SIDE EFFECTS

Headache, dizziness, diarrhea, vomiting, arm, leg or back pain, menstrual pain, cough, hives, rash, itching, shortness of breath or difficulty swallowing, swelling of face, throat, tongue , lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles or lower legs, hoarseness, difficulty swallowing or trouble breathing. Fexofenadine may cause other side effects. Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems with your medication.

NOTE

Before taking fexofenadine, tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to fexofenadine, any medications or any ingredients of fexofenadine and the medications you are taking or plan to take. Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had kidney disease.

Pregnant women: There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Only use Fexofenadine during pregnancy when the benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risk to the fetus.
Nursing mothers: It is not known whether fexofenadine is excreted into human milk. Because many drugs are excreted into human milk, caution should be exercised when administering Fexofenadine to nursing mothers.
Children: The safety and efficacy of Fexofenadine have not been established in children younger than 6 months of age.
Elderly: Fexofenadine is significantly excreted by the kidneys. Elderly people are more likely to have kidney failure, should be careful in the choice of dose and should monitor renal function.
Renal impairment: Reduce the dose in patients with renal insufficiency.
INTERACTIVE

Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium gel reduce the bioavailability of fexofenadine. These drugs should be taken 2 hours apart.

Concomitant use of fexofenadine with erythromycin or ketoconazole increases fexofenadine plasma concentrations by 2-3 times. However, this increase did not lead to an effect on the QT interval, and compared with the above drugs alone, no additional side effects were observed.
